Release Notes for OWL 2.9.1-owl3
These release notes for OWL 2.9.1-owl3 provide an overview of the changes made and new features added to OWL on Decemeber 22, 2013.
Introduction
This is the eighth release of OWL, and the third based on the 2.9.1 tag of Sakai.
This release contains updates to the Assignments tool, a dedicated page for the Manage Participants list, the new Join Bar for joinable sites, improvements to the password policy, user experience and performance improvements, and security updates. This version of OWL was released on December 22, 2013.
Additions and Changes
- The Manage Participants list has been moved to a dedicated page. This move greatly improves the loading time of the initial page of Site Info making it faster to access the other features of the tool.
The dedicated Manage Participants page linked from Site Info - The new Join Bar appears at the top of every page of a joinable site for non-participants allowing them to easily join the site. This feature replaces the functionality of the Join Site tool, which will be removed in a future release.
The new Join Bar appears at the top of a joinable site - Dynamic feedback has been added to the account creation and account management features for guest accounts.
Feedback displays while modifying guest account settings - The setup and configuration process of Assignments has been improved.
- Performance improvements have been made in Certification.
- User interface improvements have been made in many tools.
- Overall system security has been enhanced.
